Xiaomi smartphones are good budget phones with excellent features. However, they also include some frustrating functions, one of them is Advertisement pop ups. MI phones have their own interface MIUI that displays occasional and promotional ads on the device. Mostly it shows the ads based on your activities and internet browsing. Although, these ads are not harmful but they can be annoying. Here are some tricks to help you block most of these ads in your MI device.
Tips: If you’re continuously gettings ads from a particular application, then turn off ads for that app.
Trick 1: Disable msa
As you know, Xiaomi earns money with these advertisements. The company has hidden this service deep in the settings so that no one can disable it easily.
1. Connect your Xiaomi phone with the internet.
2. Open MI settings.
3. Go to ‘Additional Settings.’
4. Select ‘Authorization & revocation’.
5. Find ‘msa’ and turn its button to grey.
6. Keep trying until you’ll not succeed.
Trick 2: Disable Ad recommendations
After disabling the ‘msa’ successfully, follow these steps to turn off “Ad services Personalized ad recommendations.”
1. Open MI settings.
2. Go to ‘Additional Settings.’
3. Select ‘Privacy’.
4. Find ‘Ad services Personalized ad recommendations’ and disable it.
Trick 3: Disable recommendations for apps
Stop ads in Mi Browser
1. Open ‘Settings’.
2. Go to ‘System app settings.’
3. Select ‘Browser.’
4. Then ‘Privacy & Security’.
5. Find ‘Recommended for you option’ and disable it.
This will stop most of the ads from appearing in the app. Also, use the below steps to remove ads completely.
6. Go back to ‘System app settings.’
7. Select ‘Browser.’
8. Go to ‘Advanced.’
9. Tap ‘Set Start page’.
10. Enter and set the address of the page you want.
This will change the start page and prevent all promotional contents that appear on the default start page.
Stop ads in Mi Security
To remove the ads from Mi Security app, use the steps.
1. Open ‘Settings’.
2. Go to ‘System app settings.’
3. Select ‘Security’.
4. Disable ‘Receive recommendations.’
Stop ads in Mi Music
To remove the ads from Mi Music app, use the steps.
1. Open ‘Settings’.
2. Go to ‘System app settings.’
3. Select ‘Music.’
4. Disable ‘Receive recommendations.’
Stop ads in Mi Video
1. Open ‘Mi Video.’
2. Tap on ‘Account.’
3. Select ‘Settings’.
4. Disable ‘Online recommendations.’
5. Disable ‘Push notifications.’
Disabling these options will prevent promotional ads as well as irrelevant notifications.
Stop ads in Mi File Manager
1. Open the ‘Mi File Manager’ app.
2. Open the app menu.
3. Select ‘About.’
4. Find ‘Recommendations’ and disable it.
This prevents the ads in your file manager app.
Stop ads in MIUI Cleaner
1. Open the ‘MIUI Cleaner’ app.
2. Tap on the ‘Brush’ icon button at the top.
3. Then tap ‘Cog’ icon button.
4. Find ‘Receive Recommendations’ and disable it.
This will remove the ads that MIUI Cleaner shows.
Trick 4: Disable useless notifications
1. Open ‘Settings’.
2. Go to ‘Notifications.’
3. Go to ‘App notifications.’
4. Find the app that sends you useless notifications.
5. Disable the notification for the apps.
This blocks all the notifications from the app, including the irrelevant ones. If there are more apps that send you notifications, use the same steps and block the notifications for them all.
